Job Description

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the assigned aquatic facility or Water park, general supervision, and safety of guests and staff in the assigned aquatic facility, and ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Perform lifeguard surveillance of the pool area when necessary. Provide services for large groups, including children, monitoring both visually and audibly to ensure safety, facility rules, and health standards.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, enforcing rules and regulations governing the use of facilities, preventing injury or loss of life, and administering first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as necessary.
  • Oversees and ensures that all the routine of the camera room is being followed properly.
  • Ensures that all appropriate water, environmental, health, and safety standards are maintained; ensures pools are compliant with all local, state, and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation.
  • Participates in and teaches aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary.
  • Oversees and helps with the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of employees of the facility; supervises the day-to-day activities of staff.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and general requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of optimal swimming pool water chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness standards.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines for the operation of public swimming pools and public baths.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and certify lifeguards and others.

Lifeguard Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR certifications
  • Must be able to perform lifeguard pre-requisites (3oo-meter swim, 2 minutes treading water)
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies
  • Must carry out the duties, direction, and assignment as requested by the Aquatics Manager
  • Must be available to work during weekdays and weekends and/or public holidays as needed.
